I can’t believe it’s already the end of January! It has been a while since I’ve posted anything on the blog, as the last month or so has been pretty crazy. I spent the last few weeks of December and the first week of January on a bit of an adventure around Ireland with a brief sojourn to Paris, France. My friend from Boston came to visit, and we made our way around the island hitting Belfast, Dublin, Kilkenny, Cork, Galway, Inis Mór, Dublin again, and then flew to Paris for a few days. It was so fun, but it was exhausting and it all caught up with me in Paris and I spent my last few days there thinking I might die of a head cold. When I got back to Dublin, I checked in the hostel that is to be my new home for the next few months and promptly slept for about two weeks. I was too sick to do much other than scarf down the free breakfast, finish a couple of proofreading orders on Fiverr, and guzzle Lemsip like it was water. I’m pretty sure I spent about 75% of those two weeks asleep or trying to fall asleep. So, the knitting took a bit of a back seat as I tried to sort my life out.
Now I’m feeling much better and I’ve been spending my free time knitting and reading. I set a goal to read more in 2019, so my Goodreads challenge is to read 30 books. I’ve already read three! In terms of knitting, I set my Ravelry challenge for 2019 to 50 projects. This is a lot, I know. Like, almost one a week. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it, but I figured why not set an ambitious goal just to see if I can reach it? I’m hoping by supplementing garments and big shawls with quick hats and little projects I can average about one finished item a week. We’ll see how it goes, so far I’m already behind!
I have lots of exciting things planned for JPK in 2019, and I’m hoping to publish my first pattern of the year very soon! It is currently being tested, but it should be out next week! Here’s a peak at the pattern, a hat and cowl set, pictured in Paris (before I got sick):
I wish you all a happy and healthy 2019, and I can’t wait to continue sharing my craft with you this year!
